Policy Uncle ("we", "our", "us") provides an insurance policy management platform for customers and insurance advisors, available via web and our mobile app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information: name, phone number, and email address, used to create and secure your account.
• Insurance and policy data: details of your insurance policies, quotations, and renewal dates that you or your advisor add to the platform.
• Documents you upload: policy documents and supporting identification/financial documents (for example Aadhaar, PAN, ITR, or bank statements) that you or your advisor upload to process your insurance needs.
• Communications: messages, follow-up notes, and support interactions between you and your advisor.
• Device and push notification data: a device token used to deliver push notifications to your phone, and basic device/platform information (iOS, Android, or web).
• Usage data: log-in activity and basic technical information (such as IP address and browser/app version) used for security and troubleshooting.

How We Use Your Information

• To manage your insurance policies, quotations, and documents.
• To send you notifications about renewals, follow-ups, document requests, and account activity.
• To verify your identity via one-time passwords (OTP) sent by SMS.
• To extract and organize information from documents you upload, using an AI-assisted processing service, so your policy details are captured accurately.
• To improve and secure the platform.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform, under agreements that limit how they may use your data:

• Firebase (Google) — delivers push notifications to your device.
• OpenAI — processes uploaded documents to extract policy details.
• MSG91 — delivers SMS one-time passwords for login verification.
• Pusher — delivers real-time updates within the app (for example, when a document status changes).

Your assigned insurance advisor and authorized Policy Uncle staff can access your policy and document data as needed to provide service to you.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secured servers with access restricted to authorized personnel. Documents you upload are stored securely and are only accessible to you, your advisor, and authorized staff.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Your Choices and Rights

• You can turn off push notifications at any time from your device settings.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us below.
• Logging out of the app on a device removes that device's ability to receive push notifications.

Children's Privacy

Policy Uncle is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
